Global Citizenship / Education
Project presentation about Global Citizenship (Reflection)
One of the
projects given by our speech class professor Sherri Sinkoff was about Global
Citizenship. If we stop to analyze, being a global citizen is about having the
general knowledge to understand the wider world, our place and at the same time
take an active role in our community. Health Care, Wealth, Education and Morals
and Ethics related with politics were the four subtopics that were divided in
groups to be presented. Also, each group had a leader in charge of every
project. After telling you this, I will explain to you a little bit about each
presentation and how they were performed.
Group #1
The first group’s
discussion was related to health care. During their presentation they discussed
the different programs that we have in the U.S. such as the Medicare, the
Medicaid and the Obama care.
Their leader made an amazing work introducing each
one of the members of his group as they were presenting. Even though some of
the participants had notes to do their part, they made a good use of this tool.
Also, their power point slides were clean and easy to read.
Group #2
The following
group performance consisted about wealth. In this project the participants
talked about different factors related like Social Security, which is one of
the most important factors that determine the wealth of an individual in our
country. They also made an overview on farming and the disparage between
classes (Middle class).
During their talk each participant made questions to
the audience (us) making the performance interesting. From my viewpoint, I
think they were well prepared because every participant was looking to the
public as they were presenting. This time the leader started the presentation
and made his part fist which was excellent in my opinion.
Group #3
The third group is
one of my favorites in my opinion. Their subtopic was about The Morals and
Ethics in our society today. They covered each factor related with morals and
ethics. They talked about knowledge between right and wrong, the requirements
to be a president, the negative impacts of technological advancements and
religion.
As they were presenting, every team member was dialoguing with us as
if they were having a normal conversation. They also gave examples and made
gestures to explain what they were talking about so we could understand the
topics discussed. These factors left us with no doubts about the topic they were performing.
Group #4
The fourth group
was mine and our subtopic was related with education.
For the project we made
research about why teachers were underpaid, the different viewpoints of political
parties in education, how does the student debt affect students and we also
included an interview video made at Miami Dade College having the opinion from
the Dean about what they think of education and global citizenship.
Our group
was the last to present, this time our performance was a video presentation
which took longer than we expected due to the corona virus. Even though our
team members were distant from each other we were communicating constantly in
order to complete the film. In my opinion we could have improved better the
film, but like I mentioned before, we had an unexpected issue that interfere
with our project, but I feel very comfortable and proud of my group with what
we accomplished.
Thank you for your time.
