    Reflection Work

Democracy suffer a change in each election, so we are the ones who choose an improvement in our system by the country’s new president. On this occasion, Professor Sherri of speech communication took some topics to delegate to 4 groups of students. These topics are: Health care program, Wealth, Education, and The Morals and Ethics in our society. Each topic deals with important issues that affect us as a society and citizens in a country; there are programs and systems that greatly influence us in terms of our health and human development. There are different appreciations I have regarding each group presentation with its assigned theme.

In the beginning, the first group talked about Health Care Programs. At this point, they discussed the different programs that the state provides. One of them is Medicare; There are four parts that make it up. First, the hospital coverage; my classmates showed different videos that explained how this works. Besides, they gave examples of the following parts such as the doctors, the advantages of Medicare and an important point, the prescription of drugs. Another health program is Medicaid. A classmate delivered a speech about the benefits of having this plan such as publicly financed program. Finally, Obama care is currently an affordable health plan, and the big problem with the health in USA are the bills. It is very debatable about how they give us a big debt for somewhat insignificant concepts. In addition, the group delivered a striking presentation, including them in formal attire.

Another group presented on the topic of Wealth. Before they started, they used a tool on a website to ask us some small survey-style questions. It was very interesting with the live voting room, and we saw the results of different answers regarding their topic. First, they discussed social security, that retirement of life that can save us when we make the decision to withdraw from our social work. Another topic they discussed was about Farmers. My classmates mentioned to Monsanto company; a company that produces tools to help farmers. They balance the needs of humans with the resources of the Earth. Finally, my classmates discussed about disparaging classes. They commented on how the middle class is disappearing because the rich get richer and the poor poorer. I liked the videos they used to represent these messages.

The next presentation was presented by my group with the Education topic. I particularly liked this topic, since the educational system is one of the important pillars for the development of people to have a good future with decent employment. One of the important points to keep in mind is knowing that there is a private and public education that is carried out in different media such as elementary school, middle school and university. Also, there are different ways to improve the educational environment; one of the best ways is by appropriating today's technology, the way of teaching both in the classroom and outside. Besides, preparing students for real life is something that every teacher should give as a plus. In addition, it is important that institutions provide information about the vote. Students should have an objective perception of who they should choose as the representative of their government. Finally, our presentation was made on video, taking a clip from each classmate exposing their slides in a witty, eye-catching way, and including interviews.

The last group spoke about Morals and Ethics in our Society. They talked about how technology negatively impacts society, limiting our face-to-face conversations and ceasing to be sociable. It is true that technological advances provide us with tools that unite people from all over the world; We need to know how to put this to good use, balancing the social with the virtual. Morality deals a lot about the good and the bad and with these clear concepts, we can know the requirements that a president or a public official must have.

I enjoyed each presentation and took the most important of each topic to apply it in my daily life. Democracy and our social system are constantly changing, either by technology or by governors. Those changes that we as citizens can make through a vote, it is necessary that we do it with conscience and morality in order to deliver a better way of living that benefits all of us.
